Hidden away in the idyllic setting of Gisburn Park, there is a hub of activity. Gisburn Park Stables is the base of three successful ventures within the Equine industry: Panama Sport Horses Ltd, Panama Equine Hydrotherapy Ltd, and now Panama Racing.

Panama Sport Horses was set up in 1993 by Nick Saville and Carol Richardson, with the view of producing, competing, sourcing and selling competition horses.

Nick, with over 30 years of experience, has a long career both riding and training show jumpers and National Hunt racehorses, producing many champions and international competition horses. Although injury has curtailed Nick’s riding career he still teaches show jumping riders to win at any level from amateurs and young riders to professionals.

Carol Richardson, a leading lady rider, is regarded by many as one of the most talented producers of novice and young horses. She has had vast experience of riding all types of horses and has spent time in South Africa riding at an international level. The success of Panama Sport Horses has lead on to the founding of Panama Equine Hydrotherapy Ltd.

Panama Equine Hydrotherapy Ltd is one of the leading producers and manufacturers of Equine Spa’s. Equine hydrotherapy is an alternative method to treating lower leg ailments and general leg maintenance, using chilled and warm saline aerated water. Examples of conditions that can be treated by this none invasive treatment are: tendon and ligament injuries, bone damage, fractures, post operative complications and healing of wounds etc.

Niall Saville, Nick’s son, one of the leading amateur jockeys, now runs the racing side of the operation. He currently has 15 horses in training, and is widely supported by local farmers.

The facilities at Gisburn Park are the former base for trainer Michael Dickinson and have been expanded to accommodate an all weather gallop and new stables, to add to the existing facilities of grass gallops, indoor and outdoor arena’s, horse walker, hydrotherapy spa, and stabling for forty.
