Marius Press has been publishing medical books and journals for 20 years, but in 2005 published Magic in V àldovar, the first in a series of three children’s books (the King and Wizard Stories) by Neil Johnson. The six stories in the first book had been written some 28 years earlier. The manuscripts, thought ot have been lost were rediscovered lying at the bottom of a drawer. Book 2, Dreams of V àldovar was published in 2006 and book 3, Wonders of V àldovar will be published in July 2007.

The books, each of which contains six storieswritten in a traditional style are enjoyed by children in the 7 – 13 year age range but will be kept and treasured long beyond childhood. The stories are illustrated by Victoria Flack who also painted the dramatic landscapes on the books’ covers. Composer Stuart Warren has set the songs on poems in the stories to music and CDs accompany each of the books. A special website gives more details of the children’s series.
