Ernest Collinson founded the Collinson business in 1962. He identified an opportunity building agricultural silos to store bulk deliveries of animal feedstuffs; consequently the ‘Collinson Hopper’ soon became known throughout the UK farming industry.
Initially, just silos were manufactured at Sandholme Mill, Barnacre. The scope of the business expanded over the years and the original premises were replaced by new purpose built factories in Catterall, incorporating the latest CAD CAM technology and employing approximately 65 staff. Collinson Plc now manufactures and supplies bulk feed silos and livestock feeding systems for agriculture, also bulk silos and materials handling systems for other industrial sectors.
