Capernwray Hall is a 19th-century mansion set in 175 acres of parkland and was originally built as a private home for the Lord Lieutenant of the county of Lancaster, just south of England's famous Lake District. Capernwray was purchased in 1946 for use as a Christian holiday and conference centre. It first opened its doors to holiday guests in May 1947. The Bible School started two years later, in order to meet the demand for further Bible teaching for the many new converts from the holiday conferences.

Over the years since then, more and more people have taken advantage of this Bible teaching. Each winter the Hall becomes home to 175 students, from sometimes as many as 30 different nations. During the holiday breaks Capernwray offers holidays for all ages and anticipates welcoming more than 2000 guests this year. Capernwray has excellent recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, complete with sauna, and sports hall and climbing wall that are available to the guests and students and used extensively by the local community.
