Browsholme Hall Garden Festival

Browsholme Hall, situated to the north west of Clitheroe near Bashall Eaves has been the ancestral home of the Parker family since 1507. The hall has remained relatively the same for 200 years and is home to a range of remarkable décor from “atmospheric oak of the English Civil Wars” to the “elegance of the Regency Period”. Browsholme Hall has been selected on several occasions to be used in episodes of TV productions for example Hetty Wainthrope and Juliet Bravo.

The Hall is opened up to the public on occasional days throughout the year and groups and coach tours are catered for. The Hall is also available to host private meetings, corporate hospitality, entertainment and music events.

Since 2003 a garden, plant and craft fair has been held at Browsholme Hall. The 2004 event, organised by John Travis Events, hosted local suppliers exhibiting offering garden, plant and craft stalls and a farmers’ market. Entertainment was in the form of ‘Jukalo the Juggler’, Balderstone Brass Band, Otley Wayzgoose Morris side, Slaidburn Brennands Endowed School Maypole Dancers and an off road demonstration.

The Rural Sustainable Marketing Programme assisted this new festival with marketing literature and signage, a marquee allowing local crafts to be exhibited and ground re-enforcing mesh to allow fields to be used for car parking, without creating major erosion problems.

With its success going from strength to strength, the Parker family have decided to repeat the event yet again in 2005. For more information on Browsholme Hall visit their website at: www.browsholme.co.uk
