Backs Bottom Farm was a small dairy and sheep farm until 1968. It is now run as an sheep farm with the recent introduction of a forest garden orchard and a study centre. This was established as a charitable trust by the owner in 1985. The woods are ancient semi-natural broadleaved of natural importance. Work is in progress to develop associated coppice crafts, charcoal, yurts and greenwood furniture at the same time as developing the woodland diversity. Chutneys and jams made from farm produce are also on sale.

Facilities at the farm include the study centre, a camping barn, car/minibus parking. As well as farm animals birds including red grouse, lapwings, redshank, snipe, curlew, short eared owls, hen harriers and merlin can be seen on the farm and wildlife including hares, roe and sika deer. Visitors are by appointment.
